Okay. So I SUCK. I posted last week about preview night and then… silence.. In my defense I was waiting on some photos from my good friend Rhiannon before I continued blogging about Comic Con mostly because I have a terrible memory and she took A LOT more photos than I did. Then I remembered I had a cell phone.. that was full of photos… SO you’ll see a bit of both.. Thursday we got up at a pretty decent hour.. got ready, had coffee, ate and headed into the crowds of the convention center.
As you can see.. we saw a lot of awesome craziness. The first photo still seriously cracks me up.
We walked the exhibit hall for quite a while. Rhi and her husband had a couple things they wanted to hit up and I was DYING to try to get in the Funko booth. So we split up for a few. Thats when I got stuck in the madness that was Funko at SDCC 2015. Worst. Mistake. Ever. I’ll preface by saying the booth was small. It couldve been 4 times that size and STILL would’ve been crazy. Apparently bitches be crazy for Funko. They closed the line down every time it filled – which I totally get. I walked over there and was informed they’d closed for lunch and would reopen in 42 minutes. Seemed like a reasonable amount of time. So I wandered around and found these beauties : Only thing I bought at the actual convention and SO excited about them. (However I completely missed the artist’s name so if you by any chance know – please tell me because I need more.. !) I wandered back shortly after and ended up in this nightmare.. I was trapped in that mess for a cool 45 minutes. And after ALL that I still couldn’t get in the actual line. Thats when I said SCREW IT. No adorable Steve Rogers for me 😦 . We saw some GREAT cosplayers and some really cool stuff again.
And Rhi got to meet one of her favorite artists Jhonen Vasquez After that we decided to line up for the Sherlock panel in Ballroom 20. The line wasn’t too bad so we hopped in about an hour before the panel. Unfortunately, it was at the exact same time as the Con Man panel and I was totally bummed about it being in Hall H. But I was still excited to see what the BBC would fill me in on so we settled in. However once we started talking to a mother daughter duo in front of us.. we discovered there was NO LINE to walk into Hall H. I LOVE Sherlock – so much. But it wasn’t going to be an exiting panel and I love Nathan Fillion so much it hurts. So we contemplated about 4 seconds and ran. We literally walked RIGHT IN.
And it was SOOOOOO worth it.
If you don’t know the premise of Con Man here it is:
Wray Nerely (Alan Tudyk-Me!) was a co-star on Spectrum, a sci-fi series which was canceled –Too Soon– yet became a cult classic. Wray’s good friend, Jack Moore (Nathan Fillion) starred in the series and has gone on to become a major movie star. While Jack enjoys the life of an A-lister, Wray tours the sci-fi circuit as a guest of conventions, comic book stores, and lots of pop culture events. The show will feature all the weird and crazy things that happen to Wray along the way to these events. Con Man Indigogo
(I apologize for the quality of some of the next photos – most are from my iPhone)
Chris Hardwick moderated – which was almost worth it alone because he’s kind of awesome. Alan Tudyk walked on stage in FULL ON WASH GARB! This was a panel seriously full of awesomeness. Alan Tudyk, Nathan Fillion, P. J. Haarsma, Casper Van Dien, Mindy Sterling, Tricia Helfer, Nolan North, Alison Haislip, Michael Trucco, Sky Haarsma, Seth Green, Felicia Day, Wil Wheaton and others lined the stage to give us an AWESOME look into what Con Man is going to be.. Alan decided to also remind us of the still heartbreaking loss of Wash with a bottle of ketchup He also showed us his new costume for his characters fictional character : They showed us the trailer for Con Man – which if you haven’t seen yet – you’re really missing out – so check it out below! There are SOO many celebs that are going to be appearing in Con Man – more than the ones just on this panel.. We seriously can’t wait for this show.. These two awesome things also happened… The entirety of Hall H sang Stand By Me to Wil Wheaton AND a surprise proposal!! If you want to watch the whole panel see below: After Con Man, we wandered for a bit and saw the insanity that was the NDL (next day line) for Hall H’s Friday panels (to name a few – The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, and Star Wars). To give you a glimpse, i’ll just say there were already 80 people in line for FRIDAY on WEDNESDAY at 8 am. Crazy… So we decided to abandon all hope of getting in to Hall H on Friday. We made our way around to wander and whilst wandering we ran into Rhi’s friend Gary and tagged along with him to the Her Universe Fashion Show – which I am SO glad we went to. We got some SWEET swag bags with cookies, Star Wars buttons, Itty Bitty Darth Vaders, stickers, coupons and more AND saw some amazing Geek Couture fashion! Here are just a few:
After the fashion show, Gary took us and his sweet niece and friend to dinner. We went to Puesto – best. freakin’. tacos. I’ve. ever. had. Had drinks after with Gary and his friend Christian: Then we went home to Rhi’s for more drinks and to work on a possible cosplay for Rhi (which needless to say didn’t pan out but the photo is adorably even though she may kill me for posting) Sorry this was sooooo lengthy but… That’s just how exhausting SDCC was.. in the best way possible.. More soon! -Cait
